One of the great joys in following music is watching the winding roads it lays out for musicians to follow and how those paths become braided by time and interactions with fellow artisans.

A fine example of this is highlighted in our interview with cover artist Morcheeba, and how the lead singer of this well-known British band, Skye Edwards, whose own pioneering ways have carried forward into the next generation, as her son now performs with an equally pioneering outfit, Gorillaz. A tale told by founding member Ross Godfrey as he joins us during his recent world tour alongside the fabled DJ and producer James Lavelle.

Music never stands still and as new outfits emerge and redefine styles and genres, the intricacy of past and present becomes ever more interwoven. A point echoed by our interview with Florence Shaw of Dry Cleaning whose own inventive style is one that is both new and old. Their third studio album is a combination of their signature sound meeting the wise hands of Cate Le Bon, who brought her deft touch to their developing approach.

Approaches need not be conventional, however, as French harpist Angie Halliwell explains in his connection with the otherworldly in his musical creations. That, and the Morriña Madrid singer Maria Grep, harnesses in fusing hard surfaces with soft finishes with her unique electronica.

What is most stark of all, is the timeless beauty of music and that regardless of where an artist sits along the spectrum, there is an underlying and uniting force which allows for the likes DIY creatives such as 2070 and their collection of bedroom bangers to stand alongside the historical heavyweights of Gustav Mahler as Sir Donald Runnicles leads the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra in performing Symphony No. 5 as showcased in our Catch and Release segment as we review some of the latest and greatest records coming out. What were avant-garde sounds, overtime become yet another touchstone in the rich history of musical invention and re-invention.

A ceaseless journey with endless iterations. All of which we are willing to embrace and eager to share.
